„Contemporary” doesn't guarantee quality of life leaded by the city anymore - charm of countryside has rustled over it. The countryside has “arrived” into the city, and vice versa! An individual wants no longer to be encaged into walls of evolution to feel happy. What he wants is to find a moment of pause and stability to have a rest.

Charm of countryside has grown out of the exhaustion caused by endless fluidity. It means relaxation in the changing world which is fed-up with information. It means a wish to get a peace in a hastiness.

Although design can be seen as something arisen from city of industrialization, it has changed – just as lot of things around. Design doesn't mean only creation of new shapes of objects, it is also mode of thinking by which contents are being created. Design is acting in interaction between the city and countryside. Design in Latvia has been touched by the fresh breeze of countryside charm.

DESIGN DRIVE – charm of countryside, it is not only the original way to see interaction of things between the city and countryside, it intends also to expose the framework of interaction of design thinking by providing philosophical interpretations alongside with the works.

„Charm of countryside” is a venue for designers, manufacturers, craftsmen and design consumer. There is a quality of handmade products as a result of interaction between craft, applied arts and design, as well as the documentation of idea development process from concept to product in various design subjects (from industrial design to folk art) in the centre of the exhibition.
